
Volunteer Opportunity: Social Media Manager
An exciting opportunity to join Seeds for Growth as we expand our reach and impact in 2020. We are recruiting a volunteer to promote, maintain and evaluate our use of Facebook and Twitter. We are seeking someone who is passionate about creating impact through creative messaging and outreach who has experience of using Facebook, Twitter, Tweetdeck and Canva.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Developing a social media plan with Chief Executive and Trustees.
- Writing a social media policy and procedure document with the Chief Executive.
- Developing Seeds for Growth’s social media presence on Facebook and Twitter by creating engaging messages that will drive leads and action, using strategies to increase reach and engagement, including through identifying trends.
- Managing the content calendar and scheduling social media posts using Facebook’s Publishing Tools and Tweedeck.
- Keeping abreast of news and activities at Seeds for Growth and communicating these through updates on social media.
- Share relevant posts from other accounts, including liaising with partner organisations to share communications content jointly.
- Respond to interactions with followers, including moderating comments and blocking and/or reporting accounts, when necessary.
- Graphic design through Canva.
- Provide monthly reports on the Facebook and Twitter performance.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
1. Aged 18+
2. Can demonstrate a commitment to our values: Inclusiveness, Participation,
Quality and Openness.
3. Experienced using social media accounts, including Facebook Publishing Tools
and Tweetdeck.
4. Experienced using Canva.
5. Has good written English.
6. Able to communicate with a range of audiences.
7. Is a creative person who can take initiative and think strategically.
8. Has regular access to a computer or laptop.
9. This role is remote. The volunteer must be able to manage their tasks and
responsibilities and meet deadlines and targets unsupervised.
10. Able to volunteer for about five hours a week and commit to this role for at least
six months.
11. Will acquaint themselves with and follow all relevant Seeds for Growth policies.

Launched in 2006, Seeds for Growth is a registered charity that advances quality of life for people from disadvantaged communities, primarily in London’s East End. We address cultural, social and health issues by creating inspiring progression routes using arts, technology and action learning. We focus on improving health, wellbeing and access to outdoor community spaces.
Seeds for Growth has established food co-ops and school fruit tuck shops, encouraged convenience stores to sell more fresh food, supported unemployed people into work, regenerated community gardens and much more.
